We are a non profit, 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to improving mental health in the community. We strive to provide positive outlets, quality instruction and training to youth and young adults between the ages of 4 and 25 years old, provide resources and programming to individuals struggling with mental health and family support services. Serving the Northern and Southern California regions with enhancing and developing the passion and skills of youth, in the areas of athletics, visual and performing arts, STEM, and leadership. Our program strives to strengthen our youth with a sense of competitive spirit, humility, and perseverance by instilling positive influence that will carry them into their adult lives.
Founded by Alonzo and Sasha Jackson and inspired by their blended family of 8, developed this non profit in October of 2020 after recognizing the challenges of mental health, especially during the pandemic and the need for youth and family support in the inner city. Eager to build a program that would assist individuals in moving past the stigmas surrounding mental health in the community, they developed this unique organization to support youth and families throughout California.
Alonzo and Sasha share very similar background stories. Both growing up in the 80s and 90’s at the peak of the crack epidemic that plagued the communities throughout California, Alonzo and Sasha have both experienced extensive traumas attached to that era.
Drug addiction, domestic violence, suicide, physical and mental abuse, incarceration, abandonment, many forms of child endangerment and violence being a constant issue throughout their lives only scratches the surface of what was endured as children in their household and their experiences as young adults.
Their ability to persevere is what drives them to serve youth going through mental health challenges and provide services to assist families and challenged adults in turning their lives around. Focusing on their own challenges they’ve faced in their youth it was important to begin programming that will assist in the overall well-being and mental health of the community.
Alonzo Jackson, born and raised in Oakland, CA experienced several challenges growing up. Raised by his grandmother whom he credits for his passion to serve the community, Alonzo found therapy in his passion for sports. His natural ability to perform at an elite level quickly made him an asset to any team that he was a part of.
At an early age, Alonzo recognized that sports kept him focused on the good in life and helped him through many of the dark moments he’s endured in his childhood. Football was a natural sport that allowed Alonzo to channel his frustrations of his personal life from negative to positive by being able to maintain his mental health through participating in this high contact sport.
Alonzo discovered his passion for baseball and natural ability to perform in the sport during one of his many visits to the park to play ball with his grandfather, whom immediately recognized his talent. Moving forward, Alonzo played in many little leagues and High School which also got the attention of many scouts as he finished off his youth athletic career as a baseball player playing along side other elite athletes at Encinal HS.
As Alonzo began developing a closer relationship with his father, he began to live with him in his teenage years where he also learned a love for music. With his father being a respected producer in the music industry, Alonzo recognized that he also had an “ear” for good music.
After graduation, Alonzo Played outfielder at Georgia Perimeter College for a season, also Playing in a couple of independent leagues (Pacific Coast League, Athens Area Men's Baseball League- AAMBL)
Collaborated with former Detroit Tigers' Keith Whitner to start Jack City Sports Center, an indoor sports facility in Atlanta, GA where he was an instructor for several years. He Performed as one of the lead instructors for the Ken Griffey Jr. International Baseball Camp as well as mentoring a numerous amount of Bay Area high school baseball athletes and several little leaguers in North Hills, CA
Sasha Jackson, born in Thousand Oaks, CA and raised by her grandparents in Perris, CA (Inland Empire). Often struggling with feelings of abandonment from her parents, mental health was not a topic of discussion in her household surrounded by the typical stigmas of ethic households such as the saying, “what goes on in this house stays in this house”. Not having either parent due to her mothers in and out stents of incarceration and her fathers absence, Sasha struggled silently with depression.
At an early age Sasha discovered her natural ability to dance, pick up and create choreography. Choreographing her first routine for her step team, “Sistas with Soul” at the young age of 9 years old. Although Sasha had several challenges, she has always been driven to create in the performing arts field. Her passion for cheerleading began in the 5th grade when she became a cheerleader for her elementary school which she also began taking gymnastic classes. Her natural ability to perform, with the help of her aunt she began to model and perform routines for several Hair Shows between California and Las Vegas.
During her high school years, Sasha thrived as a Varsity song leader for one year, moving on to Cheer where she enjoyed being a flyer. Her final year of high school Sasha started a competitive cheerleading club, where along with some of her alumni teammates she created routines, lead practices and competed. Sasha often credits participating in dance and cheer as her saving grace, her way of masking what was going on in her personal life.
After high school, Sasha landed an opportunity to try out for the Los Angeles Laker Girls, quickly having to cut that dream short once discovering her pregnancy with her eldest child. With the goal of
Learning the legal System to help her mother with her legal troubles, Sasha obtained an Associates of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies. Having a bigger vision to serve her community, after losing her grandmother and papa to Cancer she decided to go into the field of case management where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Human Services.
By staying connected with her old high school Sasha often visited to help out her Alma Mater which started her journey as a coach. In 2011 Sasha was presented with an opportunity to coach a competitive cheerleading team, Eastvale Elite, for 3 years before starting her own competitive cheerleading organization, Synergy Athletics for several years before moving to the Bay Area where she continues to thrive through her passions of inspiring and mentoring youth in the community.
