Alonzo (”Tae) Jackson II, an Oakland, CA Native and Co-Founder of the Mixed Behavior Foundation, has faced numerous challenges growing up in the center of Oakland, a place known to be plagued by violence.
To him, Oakland is and always will be home! Despite the challenges of the neighborhood, growing up during the 80’s and 90’s where violence and the drug epidemic hit close to home. He often found himself conflicted by the influence of taking the street route. Recognizing his advanced athletic ability instead, Alonzo found solace and purpose in his passion for sports which drove him to want to be a better example for his siblings, and one day provide them with a better life than he experienced.
From an early age, Alonzo showed exceptional talent and skill in sports, which helped him stay focused on the positive aspects of life and navigate through the dark moments of his childhood.
Determined not to go in the same direction as many of his peers He discovered that sports provided an outlet to channel his frustrations into positive energy and maintain his mental health, especially through high-contact sports.
Alonzo's passion for baseball and Football began at an early age, and he pursued it with unwavering dedication. Receiving multiple scholarship offers to play at the next level in both sports. Due to a lack In knowledge of the College process and little family support Alonzo was challenged between making the decision to play Collegiate Ball, or taking care of his family.
After high school, he played as a walk on outfielder for Georgia Perimeter College, landing him an opportunity to participate in the open MLB tryouts for The Atlanta Braves, and Baltimore Orioles later participating in independent leagues in Georgia, and Los Angeles, CA.
With his extensive experience and expertise in sports, Alonzo collaborated with a former MLB Athlete to establish Jack City Sports Center, a sports facility that provided a variety of training and coaching services to young athletes.
Through this initiative, Alonzo has been able to inspire and mentor hundreds of young people, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to succeed. Alonzo also utilized his talents and Performed as one of the lead instructors for the Ken Griffey Jr. International Baseball Camp as well as mentoring a numerous amount of Bay Area high school baseball athletes and several little leaguers in North Hills, CA
In addition to his work in sports, Alonzo is deeply committed to mental health advocacy and community development. As the Co-Founder of the Mixed Behavior Foundation, he has dedicated himself to promoting social and emotional wellness among underserved youth and young adults throughout California.
Through the foundation's programs, including athletics, creative arts, mentorship, and mental wellness, Alonzo and his team aim to foster healthy relationship building, prevent violence, teach conflict management, and cultivate leadership skills.
Eager to make a lasting impact on his community, Alonzo played a pivotal role in the creation of Mixed Behavior Foundation's Amongst Men Community Empowerment Program, a transformative initiative in Oakland, CA. Dedicated to addressing the mental health and empowerment of men while fostering unity within the community, this program aims to contribute to sustainable outcomes that promote long-term positive change.
Alonzo Jackson's journey from a challenging upbringing to becoming a catalyst for positive change is a testament to his resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to helping others. He continues to inspire and uplift individuals, empowering them to overcome adversity and pursue their dreams, both on and off the field.
